It is argued by some scholars that the novel Sunlight on the Sang gan River by Ding ling lacks personality. This paper pays attention to a recently published article by Ding ling, and all sorts of difficulties during the creation and publishing process of the long novel. They all suggest for the author's personality of open and sharp. Through the newest discovered materials, this paper explains the myth of why the novel could be awarded with Stalin literary awards.
