Abstract: | ABSTRACT Maternal mortality tends to be ignored as a major public health problem. In addition to a high number of deaths, women also suffer from long-term disabilities related to complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Most of these deaths occur in developing countries and are complicated by living in rural areas, having a lack of resources and a lack of untrained individuals to assist with the pregnancy and delivery. The advantages of prenatal care in preventing complications and death are discussed. |
