| Abstract: | Hawthorne's short story Young Goodman Brown is pervaded with gothic and mysterious atmosphere while it depicts Young Goodman Brown's psychological process of going desperate.Such aesthetic effect and thematic meanings are expressed in its language features of different levels,such as: phonemes,words,syntax,and narrative,which will help readers sense the above atmosphere and process and appreciate the unique charm of Hawthorn's gothic stories. |
