西周礼乐文化及其意义

西周礼乐文化是中国早期文化经过了巫术和宗教阶段以后出现的、体现着人文理性精神的文化形态 ,是文化由低级阶段向高级阶段发展的必然结果。礼乐文化包括礼和乐两个方面 ,其中 ,礼是规范当时社会生活的首要原则 ,乐则是礼的实践的必要条件和重要补充。礼乐并重 ,为社会角色提供了完整的自律规范 ,这是礼乐文化的主要特色。礼乐文化的社会基础是西周实行的宗法制度和农村公社制度 ,同时 ,礼乐文化也是为这种社会制度服务的。礼乐文化的意义主要体现在两个方面 ,第一 ,礼乐文化是中国早期文化达到理性化水平的具体形态 ,并且具有鲜明的特色。第二 ,春秋、战国之际 ,诸子继承了其基本精神 ,从而为中国文化基本特色的形成奠定了基础

On the Characteristics & Significance of Rites and Music Culture in the West-Zhou Dynasty

After the age of witchcraft and religion, Rites and Music Culture in the West-Zhou Dynasty reached a humanistic reasonable stage of Chinese culture, which was the necessary result of Chinese culture developed from lower stage to higher stage. The Culture was composed of Rites, which was the code of conduct, and Music, which was the assistance to the Rites' performance. It was the characteristics of the Culture that Rites assisted by Music gave security to social roles' self-discipline in the society. It was the patriarch system and the rural commune system as social environment that the cullture was formed , and conversely, the Culture supported those systems. The main significance of the Culture is: (1) with its obviously stable characteristics, the Culture represents the first concrete reasonable form of Chinese culture; (2) inherited by the Various Schools of Thought in the pre-Qin Dynasty, the Culture laid a foundation for all the Chinese culture with its fundamentally distinctive characteristics among the world cultures.
