理论与方法：汪晖的思想史研究

从理论立场上来说，汪晖始终关注中国的现代性问题。力图在充满各种悖论的现代中国思想中勾勒出复杂的现代性图景（在某种程度上可称之为“反现代性的现代性”），并将其作为反思当下的思想资源；从这一立场出发，汪晖发展出“个人同一性”和“历史同一性”的方法论，注重思想家及思想运动内部的整体性和同一性，而在此“同一性”中又着力强调其内部各种悖论性的思想因素。思想借此获得了某种活力和紧张感。汪晖的这种注重整体性和“同一性”的方法，意在使现代中国思想不仅仅作为被动的研究对象而存在，同时还要成为反思当下的思想资源。在汪晖的方法论中，渗透着他鲜明的理论立场，由此也带来了一系列学术自身上的问题。从某种意义上说，汪晖理论立场和方法论之间的纠葛，源于作为专业研究者的汪晖和作为文化批评者乃至思想者的汪晖两种身份之间的紧张关系。

From his theoretical standpoint, Wang Hui pays his attention to the modernity problems of China all the time, trying to draw the outline of the complicated modernity prospect from the modern China thought which is plenty of paradoxies, and making it resource for reflection upon contemporary thought. Depending upon such theoretical standpoint, Wang Hui has developed the methodology of personal unity and historical unity, emphasizing the inner unity of thinkers and thought movements, so that modern China thought can exist not only as passive research object but as resource for reflection upon contemporary thought. Wang Hui's methodology is saturated with his theoretical standpoint, which cause a series of academic problems. The tangle between his theoretical standpoint and methodology, in a sense, comes from the tensional relation between his two identies both as a professional scholar and a cultural critic or thinker.
