摘    要:听力教学中,有效的听首先需要听话人的主动参与,而这种参与又取决于听者听的兴趣,它表现为听的学习动机并直接支配着外语学习行为。故事作为易于自然吸收的语言材料在英语教学中(尤其是在听力教学中)自然能够激起外语初学者乃至中、高级学习者对其学习的兴趣。本文从故事在教育中的作用,学习者的学习动机和教学人员的故事听力教法等方面入手力求探讨故事在英语听力教学中所起到的积极作用,以期开辟听力教法新途径。

Abstract:As long as people have been learning and teaching languages, there has been continual debate over how to describe the process and what the best ways of practice are (Jeremy Harmer, 2000). Effective listening, as a branch of language learning, from the very outset, calls for the listeners' proactive participation and high enthusiasm which are characterized as a motivation (the students' desire to learn) dominating the whole process of foreign language learning. As an easily -absorbed language material, story, with its access to the embodyment of liveliness, is potent enough to allure the interest of the beginners, the intermediate and, even, the advanced students. The paper will tentatively explore the pivotal role of story telling in English listening teaching with the consideration of significance of story in education, the learners motivation, and some methods of the story presentation to the listeners, thereby to pursue a new way in English listening pedagogy.
