An Overall Examination of the History of Chinese Philosophy and a New Prospect in the Context of Modernization and Globalization

China is different with the West in the nature of philosophy. For thousands of years,the term "philosophy" had not been used. Since exchange began between the East and the West,research had been done to probe into the contents of Chinese philosophy and then books on the history of Chinese philosophy had been published. This paper makes a comprehensive and fair analysis of the basic understandings of Chinese philosophy,stages of the history of Chinese philosophy,philosophical teaching and research,and the fruits of research into the general history or a certain period of Chinese philosophy.
