On the Literati and Literature of Ming Dynasty Reflected by Brothel Culture

The brothel culture of Ming Dynasty had its unique principle, culture and historical background. The brothel （also called ＂green house＂）, a gathering place for actresses and prostitutes, represented the large and mixed hedonist system and the long history of brothel culture in Ming Dy-nasty. The establishment of hedonist system provided the guarantee for the formation of brothel cul- ture in law and institution; meanwhile, the communication between the prostitutes and literati iniec- ted vigor and soul to the brothel culture. The brothel literature reflected the literati＇s emotion and in- fluenced the literary tradition of Ming Dynasty. Due to the difference of the literati＇s living condition and outlook, the brothel literature had presented a prosperous and complicated feature.
