"日本模式"不适用于伊拉克重建

二战结束后,美国对日本的占领使其走上了民主化和经济繁荣的道路,反观美军在战争结束后对伊拉克的占领却使其陷入困境。美国发动战争的目的之一是推翻萨达姆政权,把伊拉克改造为阿拉伯世界中"民主的样板"。通过两国政治、经济、宗教文化以及国际环境的对比可以看出,"日本模式"并不能在伊拉克适用,伊拉克的重建和民主化只能另觅他途。

Democratization Cannot Be Transplanted Mechanically:--The Reason Why "the Japan Model" Does not Apply to Iraq

The American occupation of Japan after WWII has greatly accelerated the democratization and economic development in Japan, which stands in sharp contrast to the current predicament of the American troops in Iraq. Clearly, one of the overriding objectives of the American invasion into Iraq is to topple the Saddam regime and to replace it with an America-fashioned democratic model in the Arab world, but as the present essay reveals, after a thorough analysis of the differing political, economic, religious and cultural backgrounds and the evolving international environment, that "the Japanese Model" does actually not apply to Iraq and the reconstruction and democratization process of Iraq is bound to be tortuous and painful.
