明清徽商与新安画派

在新安画派的形成发展中,徽商起到了重要的"酵母"作用:一是"贾而好儒"的徽商收藏了大批前代的法书名画,为新安画家提供了鉴赏、学习、研究的宝贵艺术资料;二是好客尊士的徽商以优雅的园林、丰厚的待遇吸引了大批书画名家蜂拥而来,从而为画友们的聚集、切磋、交流创造了良好的艺术环境;三是腰缠万贯的徽商为画家们周游四方、拓宽胸臆、广交游、会画友提供了物质保障。此外,徽商经营的刻书业和制墨业中的版画艺术和墨谱设计,也为新安画家提供了难得的营养。

Huizhou Merchants and Xin'an Painting School

Huizhou Merchants played as the "yeast" in the formation and development of Xin'an Painting School. Firstly, Huizhou Merchants who "craved for Confucianism though involved in commerce" collected a quantity of pieces of famous painting and calligraphy,which were valuable references for the Xin'an painters to appreciate, learn and study. Secondly, their delicate gardens and hospitality and generosity attracted swarms of famous painters, thus provided an excellent artistic atmosphere for those painters to assemble, discuss and exchange views with each other. Thirdly, with their great riches, they provided material guarantee for the painters to travel around, broadening their minds and communicating with other painters. Lastly, engraving art and artistic design of ink painting in the engraving and ink industry run by them are valuable nutrients for Xin'an painters.
