论英语诗歌的重音与重读

重音和重读的概念在学术界和实际运用中一直存在着混乱,也是韵律学中一个十分复杂的问题,长期以来一直没有真正从学术上得到解决。本文结合语音学、语义学的理论从韵律学的角度对重音和重读重新进行定义,根据语言学读音的客观性特点把语言学上的重读音节称为重音,根据诗歌读音上的主观性把诗歌的重读音节称为重读,把重音作为语音学的术语分析,而把重读作为诗学的术语分析,从理论上阐述了重音和重读各自的特点与区别,解决了诗学中对这两个概念的理解混乱。这也是国内外第一次从诗学的意义上对重音和重读进行学术区分与定义。

On Accent and Stress of English Poetry

There have been confusions on the conception of accent and stress in the academic circles as well as in practice.It is also a complex problem in metrics that has never been addressed academically.This paper redefines accent and stress from the perspective of metrics,simultaneously incorporating phonetic and semantic theories therein.Accent refers to the objective,phonologically highlighted syllable of a word,whereas stress refers to the subjective,high-pitched part of a poetic line.Therefore,accent is a phonetic term,and stress a poetic one.This differentiation theoretically clarifies the two concepts,marking the first attempt in and outside China to distinguish and define them in a poetic sense.
