Neighbourhood Social Capital,Urban Health Service System and Self-rated Health: An Empirical Study based on the China Labor-force Dynamic Survey

The key point of Healthy China Strategy has shifted from only relying on the health system to the overall linkage of the society, thus it is necessary to integrate health improvement into all social policies. Based on the data from CLDS and multilevel random intercept model, this paper discusses the effect and mechanism of neighbourhood social capital and urban health service system on residents’ health, and further expands the understanding of the health promotion mechanism. Firstly, it is found that neighborhood social capitals of individual level and the community level is conducive to improving the health of urban residents. Secondly, the interaction at different levels of neighborhood social capitals has a cumulative effect on health, which shows that the effect of social capital at the collective level on health promotion is not universal, but based on the construction of individual social capital. Finally, in the places with low supply efficiency of urban health service system, neighborhood social capital at the individual level can play a compensatory role in promoting the health of residents.
