现有的研究文献对会话中的间接答语部分的衔接研究大都是从语用的、社会行为的或社会惯例的角度进行.根据韩礼德和哈桑的关于省略衔接理论我们对这些案例进行了再认识,认为它们可以被省略理论所概括.这些间接答语可以视为被省略成分的附属成分,它们与被省略成分之间有着语义上的主从关系,其主要功能是对被省略成分也就是直接答语作补充说明.间接答语常常单独使用,用于间接回答上文的提问或请求.它们与上文的衔接实际上是通过省略直接答语成分来实现的.研究的结果之一是将韩礼德和哈桑的关于间接回答的范畴类型加以扩展,从原来的三种扩展到四种.

Study of the Cohesion of Indirect Responses in Conversational Discourses

The present research on indirect responses was found to approach from the perspective of pragmatics or social act or social convention. Different from the previous perspective, this paper will adopt the theory of Ellipsis proposed by Halliday & Husan in 1976 as the framework to review the discourses. It is found that the indirect responses in discourses can be included in the theory of ellipsis. They may be regarded as the supplementary clauses of the omitted clauses functioning as semantic subordinates. One of the chief functions of these indirect response clauses is to supplement the omitted clauses (the direct response clauses). Indirect response clauses are often used independently as an indirect response to the question in the preceding text, and cohere it through the ellipsis of direct responses. One of the achievements of the study is that the categories of indirect response established by Halliday & Husan are extended from three types to four types.
