| Abstract: | The teaching of translation skills is closely related to the contrastive study of English and Chinese language and culture. Their organic combination offers the beginners of translation methodological guidance. This paper discusses their relation in terms of the following aspects: the translation of long sentence and the sentence organizational characteristics of English and Chinese; amplification & omission and hypotaxis & parataxis; translation and awareness of object & awareness of subject; conversion and noun dominance & verb dominance. Then the writer argues that the knowledge of contrastive study of English and Chinese should be comprehensively and systematically introduced in the future translation textbooks. |
