The demise of the population regulation controversy?

For many decades a controversy in population dynamics theory has been raging concerning whether or not populations are regulated by density dependent factors, without reaching a satisfactory conclusion. It is suggested that this failure to solve the problem is due to asking the wrong question and it is suggested that this controversy should be buried and forgotten.
