| 摘 要： | 卡特福德认为翻译是发展学生第二语言知识的一种有价值的方法。将翻译作为外语教学的一种手段运用于大学英语教学中对促进英语学习，提高教学质量有着重大的意义。本文正是凭借卡特福德等著名翻译理论家、实践家对翻译性质和翻译过程的描述来分析、探讨翻译在大学英语教学中的作用和意义，以促进英语教师对翻译的重视。
