摘    要:弗兰克·麦考特的《教书匠》是在个人叙事基础上创作的一部为教师而写的自传。本文通过分析作品中的多重取位,说明这本大获成功的自传如何利用作者自己的生平叙事重构教师身份,同时分析叙事和身份之间的联系。麦考特的叙述成功建构了自己的和群体的教书匠形象——观察细致入微、对学生爱恨交加、注重创新教学;他塑造的既是普通的教师群像,又是有着独特的经历和见解的“这一个”。可以说,他对自我的更好理解是通过为教师代言而实现的。

Abstract:Recent studies in discourse and identity suggest that while the construction of such major aspects of identity as race and ethnicity may have striking consequences, and that minor aspects of identity also contribute significantly to our sense of ourselves. Through an interpretation of the multi-positioning in Frank McCourt's Teacher Man, the paper tries to illustrate how the highly appraised work reconstructs identity by appealing to one's life story. The relationship between narrative and identity is explored with reference to the book's multi-positioning. It is proposed that for the English teachers in China to understand themselves in a more flexible and enlightening way, more teacher narratives need to be elicited and analyzed in the similar vein.
