| Abstract: | The Portrait of a Lady is one of Henry James＇s masterpieces.In light of the plot arrangement of Aristotle＇s tragic theory,the traditional elements of tragic plot in the novel are explored to reveal their role in constructing the artistic beauty of the text.From such an analysis,we may see James＇ inheriting and development of the classical dramatic theory of plot. |
