| Abstract: | This paper discusses the connotation of knowledge, skill and competence in general sense, and then focuses on their connotation in foreign language teaching and learning,some related English terms of competence are also concerned. The relationship among the three aspects and how knowledge can be turned into skills and eventually into competence in foreign language teaching and learning are an important issue, which is discussed in the latter part of the paper. |
