| Abstract: | Through an analysis of CET classroom features, this paper discusses the limitation of applying the communicative approach in teaching English to Chinese college students , and outlines the differences between the EST communicative competence and the social communicative competence from both theoretical and practical aspects. In conclusion, the paper points out that the theory of the "weak version" of communicative competence is more constructive to college English teaching. |
