从科技期刊编辑出版中论文摘要的翻译谈英汉句法的差异

语言是文化的载体。由于中西文化底蕴、哲学渊源以及审美取向的差异,导致了英语和汉语之间的诸多不同。从科技期刊编辑出版中论文摘要的翻译来看,其最大的障碍是英语和汉语在词汇、语法、句法等方面的差异,尤其是英汉语句法在句子时态、语态、承接手段以及主语的有无等方面的差异。这里根据英汉语言句法结构的不同,就科技论文摘要翻译实例进行比较分析,提出了科技论文摘要翻译必须立足于不同语言间语义、情感和美学的共性,采取异中求同的翻译策略,克服不同语言在结构上和形式上的差异,科学地实现一种语言向另一种语言的成功转换。

Syntactic Differences between English & Chinese and the Translation of Abstracts of Scientific Writings

Language is culture-loaded. The differences of cultures, philosophies and aesthetic orientations give rise to the diversities of differences in the English and Chinese languages. These differences, especial-ly those in syntax, pose great difficulty in translating abstracts of scientific writings. The syntactic differences between the two languages, including that in subject, tense, voice and cohesive devices are examined in this paper with an eye kept for the actual practice of abstract translating. Besides, concrete translating strategies in accordance with each difference are put forward hereafter. It is held that the translation strategies for abstracts of scientific writings should be decided by the semantic, emotive and aesthetic similarities of the two languages. In this case, the translator can overcome the structural and formal differences and produce a satisfactory version in the target language.
