介绍了最近几十年在美国读者市场风靡一时的新移民英语“文革”叙事作品，指出了导致这些作品呈现东方主义色彩的3个主要原因，即出版市场的强大制约、对自传体裁的过分偏爱以及对中国套话的过度使用。同时，在剖析了运用东方主义理论话语对此类作品进行的批评后认为，一方面，东方主义理论可以在某种程度上对这一创作现象进行合理解释；另一方面，过度的阐释和偏见也容易导致对作品进行过分简单解读的倾向。

New Immigrants' Cultural Revolution Narratives and Orientalism
