The Artistic conception and the Aesthetic Pursuit of Chinese Films

The artistic conception is one of the significant categories in the classical Chinese aesthetics. It is a concentrated ex- pression of the essential trait of Chinese art. In Chinese films, our artists have been applying the artistic conception theory in the classi- cal Chinese aesthetics into the creation of films ＇ audio - visual time and spatial art. They pursue the aesthetic style of a fusion of feel- ings with settings, the beauty of fictional and true, and the state of self - consciousness and unselfconsciousness in an attempt to foster the imagery world both meeting the national aesthetic psychology and embodying the spirit of Chinese arts and philosophies.
