Bai Juyi and Music

Bai Juyi was one of the greatest realistic poets of the Tang Dynasty. His outstanding achievement in poetry has been highly valued for their understandability and reflection of the social reality of his time. Meanwhile, he was also interested in music and this is reflected in his works, thought and life. The present paper is a preliminary exploration into his keenness for music and his appreciative abilities.
