开埠通商与中国近代城市发展及早期现代化的启动

19世纪中叶,中国被迫对外开放,一批城市被强行开埠通商,由此使中国开始了半殖民地化,但同时也使这些开埠通商城市获得了新的发展动力,这些城市开始了早期现代化进程,由农业时代的城市向工业时代的城市转型。

Treaty Ports, the Development of Chinese Cities, and the Initiate of Early Modernization of China

From mid-19th century,China was forced to open to foreign powers and a group of port cities were stipulated to open their market,causing China to fall into the semi-colonial state.Meanwhile,the treaty port cities gained new force for development.These cities became the most quickly developed among all cities in China: the speedy increase of population,the gradual expansion of the cities,and rapid growth of economy.In addition to the changes in quantities,these cities underwent the transformation form agricultural models to industrial ones,thus initiating the process of early modernization of China's cities.
