基本概念词的翻译是儒学经典英译的一大难关。译者既要忠实地再现原意，又须尽量保持译名的一致以免破坏原概念的贯穿统一，因此，为儒学基本概念词确定一个大致对等的译语便显得至关重要。文章就《论语》中核心概念词的英译进行探讨，以期在统一译名方面有所裨益。

On the Translation of Key Concept Words in Confucian Analects

The translation of key Confucian con cept words proves a great challenge f or translators of Confucian classics,who have to strive to faithfully repr oduce the original meaning and at the same time avoid using too many translatio ns for the same concept lest the original unity be spoiled.Hence great importance should be attached to the establishment of a general equ ivalent for any given concept word.This article is a tentative analysis of existing translations of certain key concept words in Con-fucian Analects in the hope of bringing out their general equivalents.
