On the Cultural Significance of the Conception in Chinese Historic Architecture

The Conception in Chinese historic architecture reflected the unique ideology and significance. It regarded the nature as a complicated system in motion, which consisted of heaven ,earth, man and life . The system possessed the organic functions of circulation and metabolism. Therefore the building activities laid stress on the symbiosis and coexistence between the nature, life and society. It paid much attention to the impacts which the natural vitality acted on man . This paper approaches the cultural significance of the conception in historic architecture from the angles of the cultural development in Chinese history.
