汉英语言差异对汉英翻译、写作的影响(下)

（注：本文（上）见本刊2006年第3期） （七）英语多长句、从句。汉语多短句、分句英语句子里主从关系很多，体现出不同的层次。汉语句子里并列关系居多，孰主孰从不明显。一般来讲，英语多长句、从句，汉语多短句、分句。由于英语是“法治”的语言，只要结构上没有出现错误，许多意思往往可以放在一个长句中表达，往往通过从句引导词与主句或其它从句连接，整个句子尽管表面上看错综复杂却是一个整体。汉语则正好相反，由于是“人治”，语义通过字词直接表达，加上表达结构相对松散，习惯上容易形成多个并列分句，不同的意思往往通过不同的短句或分句表达出来。

Different nations possess quite different thinking modes just because of their different cultural backgrounds,which,in general,decide their respective language styles.Therefore,understanding the various differences between the two languages,especially the differences in style,lexical structure,subject and topic,hypotaxis and parataxis,etc.,must go back to cross culture factors that constitute various levels of different cultures(material culture,socioculture and psychological culture),and in turn,facilitating us to make clear their impacts on the form,contents and structure of a language so as to gain an overall capability of successful handling those differences,which is very significant for us to develop a proper and scientific way and skill in translation and writing.
