文化融合视域下《红楼梦》的英译

当今文化融合的国际大趋势使翻译与文化的关系变得更为密切 ,文学作品作为民族文化重要载体 ,翻译过程中尽最大可能的异化手法 ,有利于文化的传播 ;而语言由于其在形式上相对稳定的特点 ,合理的归化将更有助于翻译作品为译语读者所接受。在这种需求下 ,《红楼梦》的两个英文译本都做出了一定努力 ,但在满足跨文化交流方面还有待于进一步提高。

A Study on the Translation of Hongloumeng from a Cultural Perspective

The relationship between translation and culture is becoming much closer with the development of cultural convergence throughout the world. As culture can be embodied in their corresponding national literature, appropriate alienation in translation for cultural elements can be beneficial to the conveyance of culture. At the same time, proper naturalization in respect of language elements can be helpful for translated works to be accepted in the target-language environment because of the relative stability of all languages. The two English versions of Hongloumeng, A Story of the Stone by David Hawkes and John Minford and A dream of Red Mansions by the Yangs, can meet the required demands in some way, but there is still much room for further improvement in respect of cross-cultural communication.
