《助语辞》的成就和阙失

《助语辞》在语法方面的成就在于：第一，第一次专门性地研究虚词，是语法研究的开端；第二，开创性且系统地从修辞角度解释文言虚词；第三，重视复合虚词的研究符合汉语词的发展规律。但它也存在着不少的缺陷：缺乏辞典编纂的科学性；对于虚词的遴选欠妥；收入少量实词性词组；义项疏漏不全；虚实概念不清；释文缺少例证，引文大多不注明出处；对虚词的类别不明确；释义欠精审。
