Japanese Engineering Ethics

Based on the oriental cultural tradition and aimed to solve practical problems in engineering and social development, Japanese engineering ethics has been formed and developed by absorbing achievements of American engineering ethics. To inquire into the experiences of Japanese engineering ethics is important for the construction of our engineering ethics. Japanese engineering ethics was originated from the spontaneous principles about career and behaviour of Chonin people (handworkers and businessmen). In order to meet the practical needs of the development of enterprises after the World War Two, modern professional practice ethics was developed by the cooperation between practical ethics research institutions and businesses as a system fit for Japanese background. At present, the Japanese engineering ethics is developing by absorbing the American engineering ethics and making it native. Some queries about its globalization without criticism are also put forward in the field of Japanese engineering ethics.
