Chingiz Aitmatov was a Soviet and Kyrgyz author who wrote in both Russian and Kyrgyz.His river novel,the Scaffold 《Плаха》which is divided into three volumes,describes a story that happens around Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyz.The novel has a profound meaning and far-reaching impact.The survival of one couple of wolves is the subject of the whole novel,which includes three experiences of escaping and losing cubs.By telling their unfortunate experience,the author expresses the nature of wolf with true feelings,which is different from others’,from the angle of the ecological suffering consciousness.The novel presents the unique ecological suffering consciousness,which is the author’s life-long pursuit after more than half a century’s reflection and exploration.
