明清江南文化型社会的构成

江南在明清时代形成了一个以艺文、图书、兴学、隐读为地域特色的文化型社会,这是江南自然地理、历史发展和人文化成的必然,显示出明清江南的文化特质和个性,以及明清江南士人的精神趋尚、价值取向、生活内容和生存方式。江南之独特的文化地位也由这一文化型社会的形成而得到确立,成为我国地域文化史上的一座丰碑。在明清地域文化研究、家族文化研究、文学史研究中,江南文化型社会的形成都是一个极其值得重视的现象。

Structure of the Culture-oriented Society in Southeast China during Ming and Qing Dynasties

A culture-oriented society came into being in Southeast China during the Ming and Qing dynas- ties （14th -early 20th century）, characterized by advocacy of art, printing of books, running of education and practice of reclusive learning. A necessary outcome of the development and progress in the geography, history and humanities of Southeast China, it revealed the particular individuality of the local culture there and then as well as the local scholars＇ moral and ethical orientations and their life style and content. The cultural status of Southeast China has also been established with the shaping of this culture-oriented society, marking a mile- stone in China＇ s regional-cuhure history. It is, therefore, a very important factor in the study of regional and familial cultures and literary history of the Ming and Qing times.
