Debate Between "The Conflicts of Civilization" and "Soft Power"

Samuel Huntington considers Mr Nye' s clear distinction between the soft power and the hard power and his exaggeration of the two to be irrational.His aim was to stress that the Non-west are becoming stronger by modernization and challenging the western leadership.Mr Nye thinks that there exist three kinds of identity crisis in current world politics,and the civilization identity Mr Huntingon put emphasis on is just one kind.In essence,the debate explains the fact that the American scholars majoring in IR are doing their best to give excellent advice on how American diplomacy should be in order to deal with the globalization.
