An Analysis of Business English Claim Letter

Business English claim letter which is a main way of maintaining the party’s legitimate rights and tools plays a very important role in the successful claiming process.To some extent,a successful claim depends on how well the claim letter is written and expressed for communicative function.Based on the framework of context theory,this article analyzes an business English claim letter from the perspectives of field,tenor and mode.The analytical result shows that claim letter presents some specific textual features which are closely related to the use of its context and pragmatic function.
