On the Learning and Application of the First Series of Standardized Forms of Words with Non-standardized Variant Forms

The official document the First Series of Standardize d Forms of Words with Non-standardized Variant Forms, issued jointly by the Ministry of Educatio n and the State Committee for the Reform of the Written System of Language,is of g reat significance in the perfection of standardization of the speech and written system in China.This paper introduces the contents of variant forms of the same word and the principles of their standardization.Proposed in this paper are als o so me guestions as to the learning and application of the Forms,including the skill s in search of the rules of how to use recommended word forms and how to avoid co mmon errors.In addition,the author analysizes some controversial points in the F orms.
