HongXue Lou Ci, a work by Shen Shanbao written in her twenties, is a complete record of her early life and literary activities. ＂Sorrow＂ is the core of the four emotional experiences in the collection of the ci poems. She had the sorrow of making a living： she had to make a living by painting to make money for the burials of her loved ones; she had to worry about the quarrels of her brothers; she had to suffer the pain of diseases. She had the sorrow of departures of her sister, mother, teaeher and brother. She had the sorrow of revenge for her father. She also had the sorrow of homesickness.
