| Abstract: | This paper explains and illustrates some new characteristics and ideas concerning the understanding of metaphor by comparing the cognition of metaphor in old time and now. Enlightened by the new theory of cognizing metaphor and on the basis of the translation criteria, a few methods for translating English metaphor into Chinese are suggested. |
