翻译的文化解读

翻译不仅仅是一种语言转换行为,更是一种文化活动。随着翻译研究的“文化转向”,人们越来越关注翻译与文化的密切关系。对比中国翻译史上两位杰出人物鲁迅、林语堂的翻译实践和翻译主张,不难发现他们二人身处相同的历史时期,却有着截然不同的翻译观,对翻译文本、翻译策略的选择大相径庭,这表明翻译是特定文化的产物,是译者的主观选择,翻译过程中的选择与译者所处的特定的文化环境、作者自身的文化态度、文化立场等有着不可分割的联系。

Cultural Interpretation of Translation

Translation is more a cultural activity than simply a conversion of one language into another.With translation research more culture-focused,people are more and more concerned with the close relationship between translation and culture.A comparison of the two eminent figures in the Chinese history of translation,Luxun and Lin Yutang,leads to a finding that the two lived in the same historical period but had very little in common in their attitude and strategies toward translation.This indicates that translation is a special product,depending much upon the cultural attitude of the translator himself and the special cultural environment in which he lives.
