王质《诗总闻》中的"因情求意"

宋人经学新说,多自刘敞《公是匕经小传》开始,王质的《诗总闻》有推波助澜之功。王质对陶潜式隐逸生活的向往,有时影响到对经典的解读。王质《诗总闻》的最突出之处,在于他的论说是“以意细推”,细推的过程中大致有两种方法值得注意,一是将《诗经》“降格”、纳入历史中,以与后世的史事和文学作品建立联系,二是以当时的风俗或自己的生活经验来说《诗经》,以显示古今虽隔而人情不远。

Searching for Meaning in Accordance with Individual Feelings in Wang Zhi's Shi Zong Wen

New learning of studies of the Classics in the Song Dynasty began with Liu Chang's The Gong Shibi Commentary, and was greatly encouraged by Wang Zhi's Shi Zong Wen. Wang's interpretations of the classics are sometimes affected by his admiration for Tao Qian's lifestyle of seclusion. The outstanding achievement of Shi Zong Wen lies in the two interpretation methods in "searching for meaning in accordance with feelings". The first method is that he "degrades" The Book of Songs and brings it to the category of history to establish connection with historical events and literary works of later ages; and the second is that the current customs and life experience are employed for the purpose of interpretation, to show that human feelings from ancient times do not differ much from those of the present.
