On Non-Logicality of Zen Rhetoric

This thesis describes and analyzes the major manifestations of the non-logicality of Zen rhetoric, and explains the mechanism of its rhetorical functions from the perspective of integrating Buddhist thinking with secular logic. Zen rhetoric is special and positive in that, as far as non-logicality is concerned-it goes beyond and even against logic-it is more prominent and more universal than whatever in the secular context. The reason lies in that nonlogical thinking, far better than logical thinking, is the way by which Zenists grasp the Truth.
