| Abstract: | This paper presents a brief introduction of the properties of the clothes of the Song Dynasty by analyzing the historical and cultural background during the period. It highlights the relation between the most representative clothes of Song Dynasty, namely the clothes of senior officials and scholars, and its particular cultural background such as the rationalistic Confucian philosophy, Chan sect, poetry as well as the mountains-and-waters (Chinese traditiona1) painting, thus drawing the conclusion that clothes are an important carrier of culture. |
