| Abstract: | Based on expounding the significance of death penalty for punishing criminals and taking the executioner for an example to decode its double meanings,this thesis draws the conclusion that the executioner has punished the criminal and uphold justice in carrying out the execution.Finally this thesis expounds the issue of how the murderer Gary Gilmore compensated his crime by way of death and to the greatest extent he safeguarded his dignity. |
