论唐甄的历史盛衰观

唐甄在《潜书》中,通过对历史和现实的考察,探求王朝兴亡、历史盛衰之鉴。他注重从人事作用上对历史盛衰之理进行考察,认为君主是王朝兴亡、历史盛衰的重要决定因素;他认识到社会风气对社会治乱兴衰产生着重要的影响;同时,他还有"众为邦本"、"富民"、"养民"等重要的民本思想。

On Tang Zhen's Thoughts of Historical Ups and Downs

In the research of ancient history and reality, Tang Zhen paid special attention to the exploration of successes and failures in governing a country and the law of historical ups and downs. He emphasized the effect of people and events on the history development as well as the effect of the certain situation. He was aware that a monarch was responsible for the ebb and flow of history; social decency played an important role in the rise and fall of history. Moreover, he pointed out that the masses are the basis of a country and advanced such ideas as "laying stress on the masses"and"maintaining the masses".
