像唐寅这样以毕生的精力和众多的篇目来写“花”在文学史上是罕见的现象。他不仅爱花、寻花、赏花、吟花 ,把花作为客观之物和描写对象 ,更把花视为生命之物和有情之物。他把花视为知音 ,与花共悲哀同欢乐 ;赞美花的节操、精神、品格 ,暗寓自己的人格形象 ;他借助于花事遭遇 ,抒发自己的不遇之慨、生命之叹、寂寞情怀、人生苦闷 ;把美丽的桃花坞作为自己灵魂的寓所 ,借以保持自由的人身、独立的品格、不屈的精神

Reading Tang Yin's Odes to Flowers

It is rare in the history of literature that a person like Tang Yin had dedicated himself to writing an enormous number of articles about flowers.Not only had he been loving poems about flowers, searching for flowers, enjoying the sight of flowers, reciting poems about flowers, but also regarding flowers as living and emotional things. He had been looking flowers as bosom friends,with whom he had been sharing grief and pleasure. He praised their moral integrity,spirit,character and morals, metaphorized into his own characters. By means of describing flowers, he expressed sigh over his unpleasant experience and regret over his life. Feeling lonely and depressed, he took the beautiful land of peach blossoms as the shelter of his soul so that he could remain free, independent and indomitable.
