| Abstract: | Pinghua,storytelling in a local dialect and Tanci,storytelling to the accompaniment of stringed instruments are two different genres of performing arts;Suzhou Pinghua and Suzhou Tanci are the titles of two local operas in Suzhou dialect.Pingtan,storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect,is a blend or a shortened form of Suzhou Pinghua and Suzhou Tanci,which are characterised by talking and singing. |
