为开创新世纪中国现代文学研究的新局面,有必要探求过去的五十年中国现代文学研究的经验与教训.这些经验与教训主要包括1、必须正确地坚持现代文学研究的指导思想;2、必须辩证地看待作品的社会影响和作品的艺术成就;3、必须采用正确的研究方法;4、必须科学地对待文学史的划分;5、必须培养一大批有真才实学的现代文学研究人才.

Where the Two Ends Meet--50 Years of Modern Chinese Literature Research

A new situation in Modern Chinese literature research requires a journey back in time, a journey into the past 50 years of experiences and lessons. These experiences and lessons include: 1) Marxism must be firmly established as the unchanging principle governing modern literary research; 2) The social impact of literary works and their artistic significance must be viewed dialectically; 3) Correct research methodology must be adopted ; 4) Scientific attitudes must be taken to the division of literary history; and 5) A large number of qualified literary critics must be fostered.
