高等教育现代化进程中的南京大学

百年南大的命运,始终和国家的存亡兴衰紧紧相连;百年南大的历史,也几乎是中国高等教育现代化进程的一个缩影。她的前身三江(两江)师范学堂是清末新政的产物,此后的南高师和东南大学则走在我国高等学校现代化的前列。中央大学不仅是“民国最高学府”,而且成为爱国民主运动的“中坚”。学校的另一源头金陵大学在沟通中西文化、创建现代学科方面,成就卓著。新中国成立后,南京大学在探索有中国特点的高等教育模式、影响国家重大决策、促进科学研究走向世界并参与竞争等方面作出了重要贡献。

Nanjing University in the Process of Higher Educational Modernization

In the past one hundred years, the fate of Nanjing University has always been closely linked with the ups and downs of the country and her history is an approximate epitome of the progress of China's modernization of higher education. The earliest predecessor of the university, Sanjiang (Liangjiang) Normal School was the product of the New Political System of the late Qing Dynasty. The two succeeding institutions, Nanjing Higher Normal School and Southeast University, were both at the front of the modernization of higher educational institutions in China. The Central University was not only the "highest institution of learning of the Republic" but also the "mainstay" of the patriotic democratic movement. The University of Nanking, a predecessor of the university from another origin, had made remarkable achievements in establishing cultural exchanges between the East and the West and in the creation and development of modern science. After the founding of the New China, Nanjing University has made great contributions to the construction of higher education with Chinese characteristics, to the determination of key national issues, and to the introduction of the country s scientific research to the world arena and competition.
