| Abstract: | The Akha ethnic group emerged in upper northern Thailand in early 1900s and dispersed in the mountain areas where they have long been called "Hill-tribes".As a marginalized people,the Akha practiced shifting cultivation until the Thai Government implemented a series of policies on forest protection and Hill-tribes resettlement beginning from early 1960s.The Akha have thereafter been in dilemma between integrating into Thai society and protecting their conventional cultures. |
