Stylistic analysis is a comparatively mature approach to studying art history in western countries,which emphasizes on the work of art and the evolution of style of individual artist and applies them to the period division of art history and the dating of specific work.Wen Fong from Princeton University makes an effective attempt to studying the history of Chinese art by combining stylistic analysis with traditional Chinese visual structure.Through further understanding of the western approaches to studying the history of Chinese art,a panoramic view of the history of Chinese art from different perspectives and fields can be achieved.
